CAMERA MOUNTS

NY Film Flyers will aid you in determining which is the right system for you. The choice of proper mount depends on several factors as each system has its own attributes. Theses can be categorized as follows:

  • spherically shaped wind shroud
  • ball mounts offer rock steady gyro stabilization
  • designed primarily for film work. Their size accommodates the film camera and 1000' magazine while allowing full pan and tilt movements.
  • built-in speed aperture computers for frame rate ramping with constant exposure.
  • may provide GPS positioning and microwave transmittability for wireless operation from another aircraft.
  • may be used for non-aerial applications such as on cranes and camera insert cars

  • active direct participation by camera operator viewing through camera
  • can be reloaded inflight
  • agile, allows whip pans, snap zooms, rapid framing adjustments and dutching on-the-fly for induced urgency
  • near-ball mount quality with gyro assist on focal lengths up to 250mm
  • Solid state reliability with very little electronics. Mount still usable even during electronic failure.
  • Ability to use standard production camera packages and lenses
  • Extensible to non-aerial applications with land or marine vehicles on a limited basis.

  • allows filming of the straight ahead pilot POV - as helicopter banks or turns, the camera horizon banks
  • joy-stick operated, single axis (Tilt), statically stabilized systems.
  • mounts mandate reloading on the ground. For a helicopter nose mount this can be done relatively quickly.
  • utilize 400' - 1000' magazines
  • Viewing is via a color LCD monitor; other monitors can be added.
  • useable focal length range of approximately 9.8mm to 50mm (35mm film format) for all film & video formats.
  • various film and video format cameras can be attached to mount.
